GSA 2015 Baltimore

The Bosak lab attended GSA 2015 in Baltimore, MD. Shane O’Reily (postdoctoral associate)  gave a talk on the “molecular evidence for a microbial role in ooid formation” and Kelsey Moore (1st year graduate student) spoke on “microfossil assemblages in the Cyrogenian non-glacial interlude.” Tanja Bosak gave the keynote talk for the Geobiology of Critical Transitions session, which was held on the last day of the conference. Sharon Newman (4th year graduate student) also presented in this session on the preservation of cyanobacteria in siliciclastic environments....

Bosak lab at AbSciCon 2015

The Bosak lab attended the 2015 Astrobiology Science Conference in Chicago, IL. Sharon Newman presented a talk on cyanobacterial fossilization by clay minerals and Shane O'Reilly (a Bosak lab collaborator) presented his recent work on the microbial contribution to ooid formation. Also, make sure to check out abstracts by Andras Zsom (co-advised by Dr. Sara Seager) on the habitable zone: A population based prospective and Emily Matys (co-advised by Dr. Roger Summons) on the biological diversity of microbial structures in Antarctic ice-covered lakes....
